How to create and edit annotations?

In this article you will learn:

  • What is the Annotation function
  • How to create annotations
  • How to delete annotations
  • How to find the annotations overview

What is the Annotation function?

This feature allows you to add personal annotations to any document from a meeting or the library. Annotations are only visible to the user who created them.

Annotations added in the web environment are automatically saved and available across platforms (Web, iOS, Windows). Any change made on the web will overwrite annotations made on other apps if the app was not synchronised beforehand.

How to create annotations?

Open the document you want to annotate from a meeting or the library. The annotation toolbar is available at the top of the page. You can adjust the colour, size and opacity of each tool.

From left to right: Text, Eraser, Highlight, Notes, Search, Comment, My meeting notes

How to delete annotations?

To delete an annotation, you have several options:

  1. Use the Eraser tool from the toolbar and erase the annotation directly.
  2. Select the annotation and click the  delete icon at the top right.
  3. From the annotations overview, click the bin icon next to the annotation you want to delete.
  4. Click on the annotation to select it, then press the Delete key on your keyboard.

How to find the annotations overview?

You can access the overview of all annotations in your document, divided by page, by clicking the  icon at the top left of the screen. Click on any annotation to jump directly to the relevant page.

Platform availability

Annotations are fully available on Web and Windows. On iOS, annotations are available on iPad only, with some differences compared to the web experience; they are not available on iPhone. On Android, the annotation function is not available on phone or tablet. In both cases, you can always annotate your documents by accessing Sherpany from a web browser.
