Why is synchronisation important?
Synchronising your app ensures:
- The latest meetings and documents are downloaded from the server
- Your content is available offline, e.g. while travelling
- Any changes you make locally (like annotations) are uploaded to the server
Warning
If you do not synchronise after making changes, they will be saved only on your device and could be lost if the app is deleted or crashes.
How to synchronise the app?
- Log in to your Sherpany account on your device
- Tap the synchronisation icon (top-right corner)
- If prompted, re-authenticate using your device credentials
- A progress indicator will show you the sync status
- Once done, the last sync date will be displayed next to the icon

A stable internet connection is essential, especially if a large amount of data needs to be updated.
Smart sync vs. Full sync, what’s the difference?
Smart synchronisation updates only the data that has changed since your last sync: it's quick and efficient.
Full synchronisation (or "refresh data") reloads all your data from scratch. It may take longer, but is useful when:
You're missing documents or meetings
The app doesn’t behave as expected after a smart sync
You've received many updates (e.g. new rooms or content)
To perform a full sync, go to: Settings > Application > Refresh data
Common issues and how to fix them
If you notice:
❌ Missing meetings or documents
❌ Annotations not syncing between devices
❌ App crashes, loading issues, or repeated password requests
Try the following:
- Check if the app is up-to-date → Go to your device's App Store, search "Sherpany", and tap Update if available
- Synchronise the app manually → Tap the sync icon on the app
- Log out and log back in → Acts like a reset and can fix minor bugs
- Full refresh: Settings > Application > Refresh data
- Delete and reinstall the app (⚠️ Only if all annotations have been synchronised first! → Otherwise, unsynced changes will be lost)

- Automatic updates: activate them via your device settings to always run the latest version of Sherpany
- Sherpany on the web: No installation or update is needed. The web version is always up-to-date
