What user provisioning options are available?
- Manual creation
Users are manually added to Sherpany via the User Management tab.
During this process, roles such as assistant, guest, or minutes-viewer can be directly assigned. - Automated provisioning via SCIM (e.g. Entra ID / Azure AD)
Users are automatically provisioned in Sherpany through your Identity Management System using the SCIM interface.
Information
These users are always created with the role "User with restricted permission". This role cannot be downgraded to assistant, guest, or minutes-viewer.
What are the limitations of SCIM regarding assistants, guests, and minutes-viewers?
Sherpany does not officially support assistants, guests or minutes-viewers via SCIM provisioning, because:
SCIM-created users always receive the "User with restricted permission" role
This role cannot be downgraded to lighter roles such as assistant, guest, or minutes-viewer
Therefore, these licences must be assigned manually
Recommended workaround
If you need to provision assistants, guests or minutes-viewers via SCIM, follow these steps:
Add the user to the Entra ID group for the target room → The user is automatically created in Sherpany via SCIM with the “User with restricted permission” role
Remove the user from the room manually in Sherpany → This step is necessary as the wrong role was assigned
Manually re-create the user in the room using Method A (User Management tab) → You can now assign the correct role: assistant, guest, or minutes-viewer
